KEY WORDS AND VOCABULARY STONE AGE

KEY WORDS


Hominids: The upper primates who walked upright and all their descendants, incluiding human beings.

Prehistory: Long period of time that began with the appearance of the first human beings and ended with the discovery of the written word.


Palaeolithic Age: "old stone" Prehistoric era of around 5 millions years ago until 7000 B.C.
Neolithic Age: "new stone" Prehistoric era from approximately 7000 B.C. to 3500 B.C.
Nomad: A member of a tribe that has not permanent settlement, in the Paleolithic Age when resources ran out in one place, they moved to another to find food.

Sedentary: In the Neolithic Age people became sedentary, they lived in permanent settlements because they became producers.

Division of labour: A kind of organisation where people did differents activities or jobs: agriculture, livestock, hunting, fishing, building, basket-making, cloth-making, defence, etc.

Bartering: The exchange of products among differents groups, it appeared in the Neolithic Age.
